Beautiful Oakland - My Favorite City

I've been working on a photo assignment this weekend - yes, for money! I'm looking for the definitive Oakland shot. I'm not sure I've found it yet, but I have gotten a few cool shots in my quest. We had a really beautiful sunset tonight. I shot the image of Sutro Tower with my longest lens from my rooftop. Later I used my widest lens to get the shot of Oakland's fabulous Paramount Theater.

Great shots. I love the jet in the background of the Sutro Tower. The Paramount is timeless. Jeff

I LOVE the Paramount Theatre.......it is sooooo gorgeous inside. I bet the Moody Blues were great, I was dragged kicking and screaming to one of their shows, and it was one of the best ever!

Heavy sigh.....I adore a lovely sunset....

Dude splain to me on how you did the Parmount pix? what does the place look like from the inside? Did Ray Charles play there?

I assuming you're wondering how I made the animation. Easy!

I shot a few pictures of the changing neon with the camera braced up against a lightpost. I used Adobe ImageReady to create an image with two layers - one image per layer. I opened the animation window, and chose "Make Frames from Layers." Saved it Optimized as a GIF. Done!

Ray Charles did indeed play at Oakland's Paramount Theater. http://www.metroactive.com/urbanview/10.03.02/urban-guide-0240.html The inside of the art deco theater is gorgeous. I'll see if I can get inside with my camera.
